Vienna, W.Va.—Integrated Marketing Communications is a NEW major being offered by Ohio Valley University in Fall semester 2018. What is Integrated Marketing Communications? Integrated marketing communications addresses the need for strategic consistency across the various functions of advertising, brand management, corporate communication, consumer marketing and public relations. Integrated marketing communications (IMC) is a comprehensive approach through which organizations drive performance by engaging, serving and communicating with consumers. IMC is grounded in advertising and direct media communications, and it has emerged as the premier way for organizations to manage their customer experiences in the ever-changing digital age.

According to Glassdoor.com, the national average salary for an Integrated Marketing Communications Manager, in the U.S, is $114,808. Overall, advertising, promotions and marketing manager employment is projected to grow at least 10 percent from 2018 to 2026.
The OVU Integrated Marketing Communications major includes 120 credit hours and is designed to be completed in four years. This program will provide an interdisciplinary education in courses in business administration, finance, marketing, communications and business law. This IMC major will include hands-on experience using collaborative class projects, business based marketing and students will work directly with various social media platforms. “This new IMC program is a way to offer vital, technology driven courses to prepare our OVU graduates to be work ready in the ever-changing field of Marketing Communications. Students will learn digital marketing and the data driven skills that are necessary in today’s business environment,” explained the Director of IMC, Nicole Byrd.
An IMC degree will help students gain the skills to create breakthrough marketing in an age of employers looking for individuals who are able to understand and develop well thought out marketing communication plans. This innovative degree can lead to employment as a Marketing Communications Manager, Social Media Manager, Advertising Account Director, Media Brand Advisor and MANY more.
