Vienna, W.Va.—Students from 24 foreign countries are enrolled at Ohio Valley University for the 2017-2018 academic year. The OVU campus is the center for learning for 77 international students comprising 17.6% of the overall student body.
“The international students are intrinsically motivated, hard workers, brave, funny, and a true joy to be around,” remarks Director of International Experience and Intensive English Program, Sally Massey.
For those international students whose English language skills are below what is necessary to succeed in regular university work, an ESL Intensive English Program is designed to boost their English language abilities and certify them for entry into normal university degree plans in one year. Students build grammar, reading, speaking, writing, and listening skills that prepare them for studies in a regular university classroom.
“The extensive diversity of our campus community provides a unique experience for our entire student body,” adds Massey.
