The Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the Ohio Valley University Graduate School of Learning and Leading is designed to equip highly qualified teachers at all classroom levels. Courses include advanced studies in research-based practices for teaching and learning, curriculum design, assessment, and current issues in education. The program does not lead to teaching certification.
All students are trained in the use of Sakai, Ohio Valley University’s easy‑to‑use collaborative, online learning environment. This tool helps the student learn, but also provides a high degree of interactivity with fellow students and professors.

Tuition: $400 per credit hour
The Graduate School of Learning and Leading encourages prospective students from a wide range of academic interests and backgrounds to apply. The following requirements must be met to gain entry into the program:
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher with a 2.5 GPA from an accredited institution
- Submit an online Application for Graduate Admission
Submit the following documents as a packet:
- a $30 application fee
- An essay of one to two pages addressing your teaching philosophy
- Official transcripts from all previous institutions. These may be sent directly from the institutions to the OVU Registrar. If transcripts from previous institutions are in a sealed envelope, include them in your admissions packet when applying. Download our admissions transcript request form today!
Two letters of recommendation that address your capacity to complete the program effectively and to use the additional knowledge to benefit yourself and others. NOTE: These may come from instructors, co‑workers, employers, or clergy, and they should have the authors’ signatures across the flap of the envelope.
